MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has beefed up security for the Muslim religious event Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadan today.
PNP chief information officer Col. Jean Fajardo said security measures are in place in areas where Muslims would hold festivities.
Fajardo did not give the total number of police officers deployed for the Muslim event.
The deployment of additional police personnel, Fajardo said, would ensure the safety of Muslims who will observe Eid’l Fitr.
Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, was declared a national holiday in 2002 under Republic Act 9177.
