The tomb of a seven-month old baby in Koronadal City was desecrated by suspected grave robbers, according to a report of GMA Regional TV One Mindanao’s Jestoni Jumamil on 24 Oras Weekend.

Chinelyn Mamburao and her husband made the discovery on Friday while visiting the grave of their late child who died of pneumonia in Barrio 4, Barangay New Pangasinan, Koronadal City.

“Nakita namin na nakalabas na ang paa. Bisitahin sana namin at magsindi ng kandila dahil Biyernes Santo at ika-siyam na araw na niya,” said Rossana Mamburao, the child’s grandmother.

(We saw that the feet were out of the tomb. We were about to visit and light a candle because it was Good Friday and it was our baby’s ninth day.)

A part of the baby’s remains was partially exposed from a hole on the tomb.

The family and some residents believe that someone tried to steal some parts of the child to use as amulets or anting anting.

“Oo baka nakawin talaga ang buto sa tuhod ng bata. Pero wala naman, tinignan namin, wala namang nawala,” she added.

(Yes, we thought a bone in the child’s knee was stolen. But there was nothing missing.)

The family immediately repaired the tomb while the police are now looking for the suspects.
