Paris-bound weightlifter Vanessa Sarno admitted that she had been on the receiving end of doubts and criticisms, but maintained that she is not affected by it.

In an interview with Kuya Kim Atienza on Dapat Alam Mo on April 12, Sarno said many doubted her skills as a weightlifter.

She also talked about this in an Instagram post on April 7.

“Everyone doubted me when I was at my lowest but this one person never did,” Sarno wrote while referring to her coach Drachir Ostoga.

Despite this, Sarno maintained her positive outlook.

Asked on her message for her detractors, Sarno smiled and said, “Ipagpatuloy n’yo lang ‘yan, wala naman akong pakialam.”

“Idaan na lang sa barbell lahat ng inis,” she added.

Sarno, who is one of Philippine weightlifting’s rising stars, will join fellow weightlifters John Ceniza, Elreen Ando, and Rosegie Ramos in the Paris Summer Games slated for July.
