AP Bren continued to assert its mastery in the local scene as it blanked their foes in Week 2 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati.
The reigning MPL PH and world champions carved out similar 2-0 victories against RSG Philippines and Minana EVOS to improve to 4-0 in the leaderboard.
They only needed 15 minutes each in Game 1 and Game 2 to sweep RSG with jungler Michael “KylTzy” Sayson (Barats) capturing the MVP honors in the opener before exp laner David “FlapTzy” Canon (Cici) led the charge in the second game.
But they had to survive a marathon against an upset-seeking Minana.
With three men down, Minana unleashed superb defense skills with only Jan “Domeng” del Mundo’s Karrie and Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan’s Lylia protecting their base as three Bren players were taken down.
But Bren averted a collapse thanks to the heroics of Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo, who single-handedly sealed the deal with his Minotaur as the M5 world titlist secured a 1-0 edge after a grueling 34-minute clash.
Bren made sure the same won’t happen in Game 2, finishing off Minana in just 17 minutes and 46 seconds to cruise to another sweep win.
Meanwhile, Echo shrugged off a Game 2 loss against RSG Philippines, but displayed its championship poise en route to a 2-1 victory. They then swept TNC, 2-0, to join Bren as the early leaders of Season 13.
Onic Philippines follows suit with a 3-1 card while multi-titled squad Blacklist International is at solo fourth with an even 2-2 card. Minana, RSG, and TNC all hold a 1-3 record while Omega Esports remained winless at 0-4.
