Lawyer Ingemar Macarine, also known as the “Pinoy Aquaman,” achieved a new feat last March 17 as he finished his 10-kilometer open water swim on Sunday.
Macarine swam 10.8 kilometers for three hours and fifteen minutes from Olotayan Island to the People’s Park, Barangay Baybay, Roxas City.
Along with the new feat is an advocacy he wanted to put the spotlight on.
“The swim is to promote clean seas and beaches, Roxas City tourism, and healthy lifestyle,” Macarine told GMA News Online.
A prosecutor for the Department of Justice, Macarine said he had to balance his day job and training as he prepared for his swim. Aside from his preparations, the sea was in a good condition that day which made his journey faster.
“The current, tides, and wind were all in perfect condition. So I took advantage of it by swimming faster, thinking the current might change anytime,” he said.
Next up for Macarine is a 10-km swim from Canada to the US this coming July.
