Red-hot Magnolia extended its winning streak by ending Rain or Shine’s own run after a 108-102 victory in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday at the Tiaong Convention Center.

The Hotshots cruised to their fourth straight win to solidify its hold of the third spot with a 5-2 slate while the Elasto Painters tasted a defeat after five straight wins to go 5-5.

Veteran big man Ian Sangalang once again led the way, posting a team-high 25 points, including a hook shot late that gave them a 103-96 cushion amid a Rain or Shine’s comeback attempt while he also grabbed 12 rebounds and three assists.

Mark Barroca was also on point as he buried the dagger fadeaway jumper to give Magnolia a comfortable 105-98 lead even if Adrian Nocum cut that to just four with 11.6 ticks left in the game.

Nocum committed a five-second inbound violation thanks to a tough defensive play from the Hotshots.

Barroca tallied 18 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds while Jed Mendoza registered 12 markers, including the game-sealing free throws, to go with three dimes and four steals.

Nocum topscored for Rain or Shine with 19 points while his seniors Santi Santillan and Beau Belga chimed in with 17 and 16 markers apiece.
