Henry Galinato shone as the TNT Tropang Giga defeated the Terrafirma Dyip, 100-97, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Galinato registered a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds as TNT bounced back after a loss to Blackwater last March 2.
TNT held the lead, 96-92, with less than two minutes left before Stephen Holt drilled a triple to cut their deficit to within one. Oftana’s freebies off a Holt foul gave TNT a three-point lead before Juami Tiongson cut the Dyip’s deficit anew.
Jayson Castro’s free throws sealed the deal for TNT as Javi Gomez de Liaño and Tiongson’s 3-pt attempts late in the game failed.
Aside from Galinato, Calvin Oftana had a double-double performance of 19 points and 10 boards, while Castro had 23 points as TNT improved to 2-1.
Holt had 24 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Juami Tiongson had 21 points and seven rebounds. De Liaño, meanwhile, had 18 points and six rebounds as Terrafirma was dealt their first loss in the conference.
