President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday called on stakeholders from the creative sector to collaborate and help boost the country’s design industry.

Marcos made the call during the launch of Art X Design exhibit at the National Museum.

“I call on all stakeholders, agencies, and partners in the Philippine creative industries to come together to strengthen our design community and to cultivate collaborations with both local and international allies,” Marcos said.

“Let us take this moment to exhibit our country’s creativity and excellence on the global stage,” added Marcos.

Marcos further urged the stakeholders and local partners to embrace the principles of innovation, collaboration, and determination as the country embarks on the journey towards a future with the Philippine design leading the way to economic prosperity, environmental stewardship, and social equity.

The President said that his administration remains committed to strengthening the design and creative industries as it generates more than 700,000 jobs.

Old Session Hall

During his speech, Marcos spoke about the history of the National Museum which used to be the old session hall of the Senate.

”As a matter of fact, I spent many hours in this place waiting for my father to finish his work while he was Senator and then Senate President. I sat there and watched all of these that are happening. And it’s so nice to be back here,” Marcos said.

”It holds so many great memories for me because these were some of the best times that I spent with my father. And maybe without even knowing it, I learned a great deal from having experienced the comings and goings of the upper House and the legislature. So, thank you for that,” he added.

Marcos was supposed to attend the Philippine International Dive Expo 2024 at the World Trade Center after the event in the National Museum; but, he did not push through.

Asked for the reason, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said that ”something urgent came up.” —VAL, GMA Integrated News
