MANILA, Philippines — East zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. has further expanded its water connection network to over 5,400 kilometers, serving 7.6 million customers nationwide.
Manila Water said it has laid and maintained 5,445.96 km of pipelines all over the east zone of Metro Manila as of November 2023.
The concessionaire’s coverage is now 27 km longer than the 5,418.9 km it covered at the end of the second quarter of 2023.
“The expansion of the water network is part of the company’s big push to serve additional customers beyond the central distribution network,” Manila Water director of communication affairs group Jeric Sevilla said.
Sevilla said the water being provided by Manila water up to the meter is safe to drink as the concessionaire ensures compliance with the stringent Philippine National Standards for drinking water.
The concessionaire also expanded its sewer lines to 468.91 km from 464.63 km to cover more households in its jurisdiction.
Manila Water earlier disclosed that it has surpassed its full-year water service connection target for 2023 as early as end-November.
From January to November 2023, Manila Water’s new domestic connections reached 23,701, exceeding its 19,898 target.
The concessionaire said it has installed and energized close to 1.17 water service connections, consisting of over 1.1 million domestic connections as well as over 56,000 commercial and industrial connections since 1997.
