De La Salle University bounced back and won in straight sets against Ateneo de Manila University, 25-22, 25-12, 25-19, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The win came after the defending champs fell short against University of Santo Tomas on Sunday.
Thea Gagate led the Lady Spikers with 15 points, while Shevana Laput and Angel Canino added 13 and 10 points respectively as the Taft-based squad improved to 3-1.
Lyann de Guzman paced the Blue Eagles with 15 points which dropped to 1-3.
Earlier, National University swept University of the Philippines, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.
Vangie Alinsug had 15 points, while Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen had 10 points apiece as the Lady Bulldogs also moved up to 3-1.
Nina Ytang had seven points as the Fighting Maroons remained winless in four games.
