De La Salle University and National University notched wins in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Spikers swept University of the Philippines, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18, to improve to 5-1, while the Fighting Maroons remained winless in five games.

Reigning Most Valuable Player Angel Canino had 16 points (13 attacks, 2 blocks, 1 ace) and seven digs and seven receptions, while Shevana Laput had eight points for the Taft-based squad. Joan Monares had nine points for UP.

Earlier, the Lady Bulldogs won in straight sets against University of the East, 25-13, 25-19, 25-16, to extend its winning streak to five and improve to 5-1.

Bella Belen had 11 points, alongside 10 digs and five receptions, while Vangie Alinsug added nine points for NU. Casiey Dongallo paced the Lady Warriors with 11 points as they went down to 1-5.
