TOKYO — Former super flyweight world champion Jerwin Ancajas sees stylistic similarities between WBA world bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue and his older brother, pound-for-pound star Naoya.

Ancajas, 34-3-2 with 23 knockouts as a prizefighter, will attempt to become a two-division champion against Inoue on Saturday, February 24 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

According to Ancajas, the Inoue brothers have similar fighting styles, but Naoya happens to be the bigger puncher between the two.

“Takuma has the same style as his brother (Naoya) it is just that the latter has more power. I have fought and sparred with Japanese [boxers] and they almost have the same styles. The main difference is the power,” Ancajas said.

Though not as decorated of a fighter as Naoya, Takuma is forging a name of his own in the world of prizefighting. He currently holds a record of 18-1 with 4 knockouts and is on a five-fight winning streak ahead of his showdown with Ancajas.

Considered an underdog in the upcoming fight, Ancajas stressed he would be ready to go for a knockout the moment the opportunity presents itself.

“If there is an opening to go for a [knockout] punch [I will take that]. We are fighting in his hometown so I want an impressive win,” Ancajs quipped.
