Another Filipina talent is set to make waves Down Under as Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Jhaz Joson inked a deal with the Goldfields Giants in the National Basketball League 1 (NBL).
Joson’s agency, TMG Rising, announced the development on Monday as Joson followed in the footsteps of another Philippine national team mainstay Jack Animam, who recently signed with the Ringwood Hawks in the same league.
Joson was coming off a stint with Gilas Pilipinas Women in the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup. The former Ateneo de Manila University standout helped the nationals reach the quarterfinals alongside Camille Clarin, Mikka Cacho, and Kaye Pingol.
Joson also represented the country during the 2023 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup where she posted 5.6 points, 1 rebound, and 0.2 assist as the Philippines finished sixth in the tournament.
The NBL1 is a semi-professional league in Australia that features five conferences in South, North, East, West, and Central. The 5-foot-7 Joson will play in the West.
