Gilas Pilipinas Women kicked off their FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup campaign on a rousing note after mauling a hapless Tahiti in their qualifying draw clash, 21-3, on Wednesday in Singapore.
National team mainstays Jhazmine Joson and Mikka Cacho led the charge for the Filipina ballers with the former pouring in a game-high 10 points, including the last four points that sealed the easy victory.
Cacho, who was part of the silver medal 3×3 squad during the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, chipped in seven markers to help the cause.
Already holding a two-point cushion at 5-3, Gilas Pilipinas unloaded a wild 16-0 rampage that completely took the fight out of Tahiti en route to the dominant win.
Gilas, which ruled the first-ever 3×3 competition in the SEA Games back in 2019, will look to build on this momentum as it takes on Maldives later in the day.
