Around 71 families have fled their homes due to flash flood triggered by heavy rains in several barangays in Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Authorities said the water in the river overflowed and reached several houses.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the barangays include Buca, Pongpong, San Isidro, San Roque, and Basiawan.
Flood victims were given food packs by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
State weather bureau PAG-ASA said the easterlies will dump rains in several areas in the Davao region and other parts of Mindanao.
Data from the Metro Weather showed that chances of rain are likely in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and SOCCSKSARGEN.
The public is warned against possible floodings and landslides. —GMA Regional TV
