Over P40.9 billion was distributed to over 6.5 million beneficiaries under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in 2023.
According to the department, the amount of assistance released under the AICS program represented a 98.5% utilization of the fund worth over P41.5 million.
The AICS is a regular program of the DSWD. It provides assistance for medical, burial, transportation, education, food and other support services for Filipinos undergoing a crisis, in accidents, or severe poverty.
DSWD records showed that in 2023, there were 6,587,667 beneficiaries who received P40,944,126,537.24 from the fund.
Recipients of assistances from the AICS include:
- Family head and other needy adult (FHONA);
- Women in especially difficult circumstances (WEDC;
- Children in need of special protection (CNSP);
- Senior citizens (SC);
- Persons living with HIV-AIDS (PLHIV);
- Persons with disability (PWD); and
- Youth in need of special protection (YNSP).
