Big man Drei Lorenzo saved his best for last as he steered San Beda University to a huge upset against Final Four-bound Mapua University, 75-66, in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The 17-year-old bruiser erupted for four triples to finish with a career-high 33 points together with five rebounds while Leo Mercado chipped in 14 markers as the Red Cubs ended their campaign on a high note at 5-4.

The loss was costly for the Red Robins as they fell to the fourth spot and will have a twice-to-win disadvantage against top seed University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in the semifinals.

After trailing by as much as 21 points, the Red Robins were able to tie things up at 57-all after a Nico Mulingtapang steal and a layup. San Beda regrouped as Lorenzo suddenly caught fire from deep with two triples coupled by a four-point play from Francis Dollente for a 72-60 cushion in the final 1:05.

Joaquin Wagan then split his charities to seal the big win for the Red Cubs, who will be missing the Final Four stage for the first time in 16 years.

Meanwhile, also-ran Emilio Aguinaldo College pulled away late to pull off a 63-47 victory against Jose Rizal University.

Mark Mariquit led the charge with 13 points, fur rebounds, and one assist whikle Rodonnel Campana chimed in with 12 markers and three boards as the Brigadiers closed out their run with a 4-5 slate. The Light Bombers fell to 3-6.
