Tippy Dos Santos pens letter for late mom Happy: ‘Your absence left a hole in our hearts’

Tippy Dos Santos continues to grieve over her late mom Happy, whom she lost in a tragic car accident in January.

The artist and lawyer posted Instagram photos from a doctor’s check-up last December, when Happy accompanied her days before the accident.

In her message, Tippy said, “You never missed the opportunity to be with me, Ate @jackiedssiapno, or dad during check ups or routine visits to the doctor—even when we were already more than capable of handling it on our own (or so we thought).”

Tippy added that Happy was the type to talk to and bond with hospital staff. She then thanked her mom for never missing these simple moments.

“I wish I had paid more attention to your ways,” she said. “I wish I had asked you more questions about how I should go about basic life matters. You always made it look easy.”

“We miss you, Mom. Again, thank you for being as present as you were in our lives,” she added. “Your absence has left a hole in our hearts; I hope you know how much we miss you.”

Happy and her husband John were involved in a vehicular accident when they arrived in South Korea for vacation in late December. Happy was in a coma in the intensive care unit (ICU) before her passing, whereas John was recovering from his injuries.

Tippy said in an Instagram post, “There are really no words to express the devastation and heartbreak the loss of my mom has caused us.”

For Happy’s first birthday since her death, Tippy wrote on Instagram, “I will miss your beautiful smile every single day.”
