HUSBAND IN CRITICAL CONDITION
A Filipino woman was among the five fatalities in the fire that hit a residential building in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), last week, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said on Tuesday.
DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said her husband, who is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), is in critical condition due to the fire.
“Sa ngayon, patuloy natin siyang pinagdadasal kasi critical ang kanyang condition. At yun nga nasawi iyong kaniyang asawa. Yung nasa ICU na critical condition, siya ang OFW and minamanmanan natin ang kaniyang sitwasyon,” he told Super Radyo dzBB in an interview.
(Right now, we continue to pray for him because his condition is critical. Also, his wife died. The patient in critical condition in the ICU is the OFW and we are monitoring his situation.)
The Philippine government is working on the repatriation of the deceased Filipino. Financial and legal assistance will be provided to the OFW in critical condition.
Cacdac said 11 Filipinos were in the residential building when the fire happened. According to a report on Super Radyo dzBB, 10 Filipinos were among the around 40 people hurt in the fire.
The 11 affected Filipinos are currently staying in a hotel and are now safe, according to Cacdac. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
