The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Monday closed an illegal recruiting firm in Quezon City (QC) alleged to be offering bogus jobs for Filipinos in Poland.

The DMW- Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB), in coordination with the QC police, shut down the operations of Tranvia Travel Agency located along P. Tuazon Boulevard in Cubao.

Investigation showed the unlicensed hiring firm was recruiting Filipino workers on social media, promising them jobs for warehouse staff, factory workers and nurses with salaries ranging from P80,000 to P100,000.

Employees, however, will be asked to pay non-refundable processing fees worth P200,000 to P350,000, which can be settled in full or on a three-month installment basis.

“We would like to recognize the efforts of our Filipino Community in Poland which called the attention of our Migrant Workers Office in Prague to investigate these illegal recruitment activities, said DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac in a press statement.

“Without their help we would not have thwarted Tranvia Travel’s illegal activities,” Cacdac said.

Officers and personnel of Tranvia Travel Agency will face illegal recruitment charges and will be included in the DMW “List of Persons and Establishments with Derogatory Record”.

The firm shall likewise be blacklisted from participating in the government’s overseas recruitment program.

Meanwhile, the DMW called on other victims of the firm to contact the MWPB for the filing of cases against the travel agency.

MWPB may be contacted through their Facebook page: ttps://www.facebook.com/dmwairtip and through their email: mwpb@dmw.gov.ph.—RF, GMA Integrated News
