Noel Cabangon is delighted to have met the man who inspired him to do music, folk rock legend, James Taylor.
On Facebook, the Filipino folk icon shared backstage photos of the two of them together as well as videos from the concert. Noel was a special guest at the concert, along with Ice Seguerra.
In his caption, Noel wrote that he was “still so overwhelmed with what happened last night.”
“Wow, what a night! It was surreal,” he said. “It’s a dream come true, for me.”
The singer added, “I never thought, in my whole life, that I’d be able to meet my music hero and converse with him. I took the opportunity to tell him how grateful I am for his music, and how he influenced and inspired me to be a musician.”
Noel said that James thanked him back and accepted his small gift.
“Isa syang mabuting tao. He was so friendly,” he said.
He thanked the whole production team “for making the dream of a fanboy come true. I will take this for a lifetime.” Noel also thanked Ice for sharing the stage with him and all the fans who came out to watch.
“And thank you, James Taylor for being such an inspiration, I’ve said this many times already, and for doing the concert here in the Philippines,” Noel said.
“There’s a kapalmuks, yet funny backstory why I got the spot to open for James Taylor’s concert with Ice Seguerra. Pero saka ko na ikukwento,” he added.
“An Evening with James Taylor & his All-Star Band” happened at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on April 8.
The Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is best known for the classic songs, “Fire and Rain,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Carolina on My Mind,” and “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You).”
Noel is likewise an artist who has created classics such as “Kanlungan,” “Kahit Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko,” “Di Na Natuto,” and “Araw Gabi.”
