TOKYO — There was no drama nor any form of hostility in the first face-to-face meeting between Jerwin Ancajas and Takuma Inoue during their pre-fight press conference this Thursday at Tokyo Dome Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

Ancajas, the former IBF world super flyweight titleholder, will challenge Inoue for the WBA world bantamweight title this Saturday, February 24 at Ryogoku Kokugikan also in Tokyo.

“I think Takuma is friendly. As long as we are outside the ring, I will show respect. Inside the ring is another conversation,” Ancajas said after the press conference.

Ancajas, 34-3-2 with 23 knockouts as a prizefighter, is considered as the underdog in the upcoming fight in Inoue’s turf. His underdog status, however, has little effect on Ancajas as he targets to end the Philippines’ world title drought in boxing.

“I will show my best in this upcoming fight especially because I want to win this fight for the Philippines and the boxing fans,” he quipped.

“Experience is a huge factor, especially for me, I have been in boxing for a long time. While others get nervous [fighting in enemy territory], all I am thinking about is giving it my best.”
