Philippine representative John Cabang Tolentino claimed the bronze medal in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tehran, Iran on Saturday after finishing third in the 60-meter hurdles event.
Cabang logged 7.64 seconds behind Kazakhstan’s David Yefremov (7.60) and China’s Weibo Qin (7.63).
According to the Philippine Athletics and Track and Field Association, Cabang’s performance also set the new national record for the said event.
Meanwhile, Kristina Knott also broke the national record as she logged 23.57 seconds in the women’s 200-meter event of the Arkansas Qualifier last February 16, where she finished sixth.
Pole vaulter EJ Obiena, on the other hand, recently set a meet record in Croatia to claim a gold medal in his first tournament in this year’s indoor pole vault season.
