Seafood is one of the pillars of Japanese cuisine, as Japan is surrounded by generous oceans, just like the Philippines.

Some of Japan’s famous dishes well-loved by Filipinos include sushi, a vinegar-flavored cold cooked rice with a garnish of raw fish, usually salmon or tuna.

Another one is sashimi, similar to sushi sans rice, leaving it with raw fish, usually dipped in soy sauce and wasabi paste.

Sushi and sashimi are just some Japanese cuisine staples you can feast on in the Seafood Festival, which is currently happening in Mitsukoshi Mall in Bonifacio Global City.

This event is part of the efforts of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to immerse Filipinos in the vibrant flavors and cultural richness of Japanese seafood.

Until March 15, mallgoers will have the opportunity to create their own Chirashi Bowl, a traditional Japanese dish featuring a variety of fresh seafood toppings, at Mitsukoshi Fresh.

JETRO has also partnered with Japanese restaurants in Mitsukoshi, Prologue d’Fined, Bijin Nabe, and Sen-Ryo for unique dishes exclusively available during the Seafood Festival, highlighting Japan’s waters’ freshest catch.

At Prologue d’Fined, diners can choose from the Hokkaido Octopus, Kujukushima Oysters Ahijo, and Hokkaido Scallop Risotto.

At Bijin Nabe, a Special Seafood Combo awaits diners where they can choose between Hamachi or Scallops, which come with premium Crab Sticks, Tofu, Shiitake Mushrooms, Mizuna, Radish, and Cabbage.

At Sen-Ryo, foodies can enjoy Premium Snow Crab Nigiri, Fried Hokkaido Cod, and Seafood Yakiudon.

Mitsukoshi is located at 8th Ave., corner 26th, Grand Central Park, BGC.
