The Vatican gave its permission to start an inquiry on the possible sainthood of 13-year-old Ilocana Niña Ruiz-Abad.

According to Monday 24 Oras report, the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints allowed the Diocese of Laoag to look into Abad’s reputation and sanctity.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said the Ilocos Norte teen had a strong devotion to the Eucharist when she was alive.

Her faith was also an inspiration to the entire province.

Abad died of cardiac disease when she was 13.

The beatification and canonization process for Abad will begin in April at the Saint William’s Cathedral in Laoag. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
