University of Santo Tomas took down University of the Philippines, 25-14, 25-13, 28-30, 25-15, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Golden Tigresses improved to 10-1 and regained the top spot despite missing the services of Angge Poyos who was feeling under the weather.

Jonna Perdido and Regina Jurado chipped in 24 points apiece, while Xyza Gula had 12 points for the win of the España crew.

Niña Ytang had 14 points, while Steph Bustrillo had 10 points as the Fighting Maroons, who played without head coach Oliver Almadro, slipped to 1-10.

Meanwhile, National University defeated Ateneo de Manila University, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15, and extended its winning streak to four.

Alyssa Solomon paced the Lady Bulldogs with 23 points anchored on 19 attacks and four aces, while Vange Alinsug had 15 points as NU improved to 9-2.

AC Miner had nine points, while Yvana Sulit and Lyann de Guzman had eight points each as the Blue Eagles went down to 3-8.
