Ian Sangalang registered a career-high 32 points as Magnolia held off NorthPort, 104-97, on Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

This exceeded his previous career-high of 29 points back in Game 1 of the 2018 Philippine Cup Finals.

Aside from his career-high in scoring, Sangalang grabbed 13 boards as the Hotshots improved to 2-2 and snapped its two-game skid.

Magnolia was leading 100-94 with 37 seconds left in the game before Fran Yu drilled a three to breathe life into the Batang Pier’s run. Mark Barrocca made a jumper at the 00:24 mark before free throws from Paul Lee sealed the deal for Magnolia.

The Hotshots led by 10 early in the game, 21-11, in the 3:56 mark of the first quarter before they closed the first half with a 46-45 advantage.

James Laput had 14 points, while Lee and Jerrick Ahanmisi had 13 points apiece for Magnolia.

Zav Lucero had 18 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Fran Yu had 15 points for NorthPort. Arvin Tolentino, meanwhile, had 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds as they went down to 4-2, their second loss after four straight wins.
