UAAP: La Salle survives UE scare; FEU moves closer to Final Four with sweep of Adamson thumbnail


Defending champion De La Salle University avoided a possible major upset against University of the East with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday.

La Salle, which has already punched its Final Four berth alongside top seed University of Santo Tomas and National University, improved to 9-1 while UE fell to 2-8.

In the first game, Far Eastern University inched closer to its dream return to the Final Four after sweeping Adamson University, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.

Faida Bakanke led the way with a team-high 13 points while Chenie Tagaod and Gerzel Petallo chipped in 12 and 11 markers apiece with seven receptions and six digs, respectively.

The Lady Falcons leaned on the duo of Red Bascon and Barbie Jamili, who poured in 13 and 11 points each.
