Tom Rodriguez admitted that he didn’t know where to begin when he was on a break in the United States.

In Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras,” Friday, Tom said that he felt “like a negative.”

“I can’t rely on myself pa no’n. I didn’t know how to begin kasi I was just like losing everything, my finances, the things that I really worked hard on, things I relied on,” he said.

The actor continued, “Sabi ko nga that time, I feel like a negative. I started from a negative and then you learn to journaling, that’s when I learned to start talking to myself and you realize kung paano mo pala kinakausap ‘yung sarili mo. Journaling, self-reflection. Just writing down your thoughts. And then, slowly, you get to realize ‘Hey why do I talk to myself like this?’”

During his break, Tom lived a simple life and discovered more about himself.

“A very, very normal life and I loved every minute of it,” he said.

When asked if he had thought about staying in the US for good, Tom said, “I would be honest, there really was. Kasi ang sarap ng gano’ng buhay, Nelson. But at the same time, like I said, kalahati ng puso ko nandito rin. I’m very passionate about my work and I really do love it ang hirap i-reconcile ng dalawang ‘yun eh.”

Tom also said that building his own family had “always been my dream.”

On Thursday, Tom revealed that he is now seeing someone, but for now, he wants to keep the identity of his special someone to himself.

Tom returned to the country last January.

He flew to Arizona, United States in 2022, following his divorce from Carla Abellana. The two had been in a relationship for seven years before getting married in October 2021.
