Tom Rodriguez is back after two years in the US, following his separation from Carla Abellana.

On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” Monday, the come-backing actor talked about his life in the US, admitting he went through a dark time.

“I don’t know if I’m allowed say but there were times when it was really dark. I thought I was gonna do something to myself that’s irreversible,” Tom said.

When asked if he meant dying by suicide, he admitted he “was there.”

“But then a moment, a flash in my mind was, well, what will my nephews think, if they go through hardships, though tough times? If Tito Thomas was able to do this, I can do it too.”

“And I thought I owe them more than that and I owe my younger self that too,” he added.

Tom shared there was a lot of crying, especially seeing his mom struggle seeing him “in that condition.”

“There was a time nagtatago ako. I would hide away, until you go through the dark night of the soul, and then you’re able to face your loved ones, face yourself in the mirror, face your family, and then you, you start opening the conversation.”

Tom admitted his entire life fell. “What people say nga, starting from zero but at that time, I felt like I was starting at the negative,” he said.

But he’s not blaming anyone. “Whatever happened in my life, I was also complacent in it, and I’ve taken accountability and responsibility for that, and lahat kayo, may kanya-kanyang battles. Kaya I wouldn’t say it’s just me. It happens to everyone,” Tom said.

“You can go through the hardest as long as you find that integrity within yourself again, that trust, that love for yourself again and those you matter the most to you,” he said.

Tom and Carla were in together for seven years before they got married in 2021. However, the couple split a few short months after their wedding, and eventually got divorced.

According to Tom, he is now fully healed.
