Rookie Ralph Cu stood out as Barangay Ginebra took down NorthPort, 95-88, on Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Cu had a career night as he registered 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists and helped Ginebra notch back-to-back wins.
The game was tied at 85 with less than four minutes left in the final frame but a triple from Cu ignited a 7-0 run to give Ginebra a 92-85 advantage with 1:45 remaining. Will Navarro tried to salvage NorthPort’s hopes with a triple but an unsportsmanlike foul by Paul Zamar brought Scottie Thompson on the line where he split his freebies. A layup from Christian Standhardinger sealed the deal for Ginebra.
Aside from Cu, Christian Standhardinger led Ginebra with 25 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists as they improved to 5-3.
Arvin Tolentino paced NorthPort with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, while Joshua Munzon had 12 points as the Batang Pier slipped to 4-3.
