MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents seized a kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P6.8 million from five drug suspects in Quezon City on Friday night.

The suspects were apprehended by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives in Barangay Central at around 7:55 p.m., the PDEA’s National Capital Region field unit said in a report.

The suspects were Rohaida Mariga, 29; Edilyn Ico, 26; Farjana Dumarang, 24; Roxanne Cunanan, 24, and Noraisa Mariga, 24, who are from the provinces of Bulacan and Bataan.

The suspects arrived at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in a multi-purpose vehicle for a drug deal with PDEA agents posing as drug buyers.

After they accepted bundles of marked money, undercover operatives placed the suspects under arrest.

Apart from shabu, the drug suspects also yielded five cell phones and a passbook with a bank transaction slip.

The suspects face criminal cases of drug trafficking in violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Two more drug suspects were arrested in Pasig City on the same day for alleged possession of 55 grams of shabu valued at P374,000.

The suspects, identified only as Tess and Roderick, were collared in a sting in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at around 4:30 a.m.

Police also reported recovering P14,500 in marked money from the suspects.
