MANILA, Philippines — Almost two million voters have registered for the May 2025 midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported yesterday.
As of April 8, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the voter registrants had reached 1,920,887.
Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon) posted the biggest number of voter registrants with 350,923 followed by the National Capital Region with 284,921 and Central Luzon with 217,151.
Central Visayas registered 138,867 applicants and Davao Region had 121,024 registrants.
The Cordillera Autonomous Region recorded the lowest number of registrants with 23,599 followed by Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduqe, Romblon and Palawan) with 46,554 and Caraga region with 52,520.
The poll body said 2,197 voters registered at the Comelec central office in Intramuros, Manila.
Garcia also reported that the Comelec may award the contract for the Secure Electronic Transmission Services or SETS project to the joint venture of Ione Resources Inc. and Ardent Network Inc. tomorrow.
The companies offered the lowest bid of P1,426,000,348 for the automated voting, the Comelec said.
