Another legendary manga is getting a live action adaptation, and it’s none other than “Naruto.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton has been tapped to helm the film for Lionsgate.
Creator Masashi Kishimoto has given Cretton his blessing, saying that he would be “the perfect director for Naruto.”
“After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is in creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for Naturo. In actually meeting Destin, I also found him to be an open-minded director who was willing to embrace my input, and felt strongly that we would be able to cooperate together in the production process,” he said.
The report added that the adaptation has been in development with Lionsgate since late 2015.
“Naruto” was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1999 to 2014.
It centers on Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who has the spirit of a nine-tailed demon fox inside him.. He dreams of becoming the leader of his village.
