President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants a holistic and comprehensive approach when it comes to solving traffic problems in the country, according to National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan on Thursday.

At a Palace press briefing, Balisacan said traffic issues were thoroughly discussed during the 16th full Cabinet meeting with Marcos on Wednesday.

“What the President really wants is a comprehensive, holistic approach to solving the traffic problem – hindi iyong piecemeal approach ‘no as has been the case all these years ‘no,” said Balisacan.

”We had a very long discussion on the traffic issue and the President gave instruction to everyone to submit their recommendations, how their respective offices will adjust and configure their work environment,” he said.

Balisacan said that in the planning of the Philippine transport system, ”we should be looking at intermodal transport system.”

”They operate efficiently as a whole. We are building now the subway, we are building other expressways, bridges connecting Bataan and Cavite and so on,” explained the NEDA chief.

”But these have to be seen in the context of all the other transport system including bike lanes, motorcycle lanes like that and as well as feeder roads and including the location of industries, residences and so on,” added Balisacan. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
