MANILA, Philippines — Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Vigor Mendoza II yesterday led a roadworthiness inspection of vehicles of two transport groups operating in Metro Manila.
Mendoza inspected the terminals of Basicano Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative and DMNR Inc. (Divisoria Monumento Novaliches Recto) in the Caloocan-Novaliches area.
“The two transport groups initiated the request for inspection and this only shows good and responsible leadership, as well as genuine concerns for their passengers, on the part of their leaders and members,” Mendoza said.
He added that the inspection is in line with the directive of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to ensure the roadworthiness of all public utility vehicles (PUVs) as part of the government’s road safety campaign.
LTO personnel brought with them mobile emission testing machines and other equipment that checks the roadworthiness of the PUVs.
Members of Basicano Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative and DMNR Inc. thanked Mendoza for acceding to their request for a roadworthiness inspections.
The LTO also facilitated the renewal of the motor vehicle registration and other LTO-related transactions of the groups’ members.
