A Kapuso classroom is now under construction in Dagadag Elementary School in Mankayan, Benguet as GMA Kapuso Foundation continues its efforts to help areas affected by typhoons.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Monday, 112 students from kindergarten to Grade 6 share only three small classrooms in the said school. The rooms were divided to two to help accommodate all the students.
Many of the students in the school are members of the indigenous group Kankana-ey, whose main livelihood is farming. They were heavily affected by Typhoon Egay in 2023.
“Hindi makapag-concentrate na mag-aral kasi ang init at walang distansya ang upuan,” said Leoncio Pakipac, one of the parents.
To help the students have a more comfortable time in class, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is constructing a Kapuso classroom, which is now 60% completed and will be ready for use in a few days.
The Kankana-ey people also engaged in bayanihan to help speed up the construction. Women cooked meals for the workers and volunteers.
