Two-time world title challenger Jonas Sultan has moved on from the painful setback he took at the hands of Riku Masuda last February in Japan.
Sultan, 33, suffered the first knockout loss in his career after taking a clean punch to the body in round one. More than the loss, Sultan says it was even more painful that he failed to showcase what he was capable of.
“I am dismayed over that fight because I did not get to show what I wanted to showcase. It was an accident and I did not expect that to happen,” Sultan said.
“I have moved on, charged that to experience and do better in the next fight.”
His team, eager to put Sultan back in the winning column, is planning to stage a comeback fight this June in Manila. For Sultan, his last outing was a tough lesson to never underestimate an opponent.
“I was told that I am fighting in June. I am going to focus on training and get ready. I have to get back in the next fight. I cannot be overconfident again,” Sultan stated.
