Veteran multi-awarded actress Jaclyn Jose has passed away. She was 59.
Born Mary Jane Guck in 1964, Jose was a versatile and hard-working actress whose work in film and television captivated Filipino audiences for four decades. She starred in dramas, comedies, horror stories and romances as well as television soap operas, after breaking out in the 1980s in films such as Lino Brocka’s “White Slavery” and Chito S. Roño’s “Private Show.”
Other notable performances include starring and supporting roles in films such as “The Flor Contemplacion Story” (1995) and “Patay Na Si Hesus” (2019). She also starred in GMA Network series including “Marimar,” “The Millionaire’s Wife,” and “D’Originals.”
In 2016, Jose won best actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her mesmerizing performance in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’Rosa.”
Jose has a daughter, Siargao-based celebrity Andi Eigenmann, with the late Mark Gil. — VDV/BM, GMA Integrated News
