A former secretary of health has warned against the unauthorized and excessive use of glutathione.
Iloilo Rep Janette Garin said glutathione is usually given to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
“It’s actually an immune booster. So habang ikaw ay nagche-chemo, babagsak ang resistensiya mo. Binibigay ‘yan,” Garin said in a press conference.
(While you’re undergoing chemo, your immunity goes down. This is used to address that.)
(Using glutathione without a doctor’s supervision, finding out that you can’t use it, and you don’t have cancer, is like getting a stone with which to hit your head.)
Garin said glutathione, in excessive doses, whitens the skin by suppressing melanocytes.
(The side effect is that it lightens the skin when taken in excessive doses. If you have a bit of an overdose, it suppresses the melanocytes or melanin or pigment cells which give your color.)
(Because it blocks pigment cells, you become prone to cancer. As you will notice, more people with lighter skin have skin cancer. Many of them have skin disorders. Because that is like a roof. It absorbs radiation and ultraviolet rays.)
She said that glutathione is an unnecessary expense.
“It just makes urine expensive.
(Your urine becomes more expensive because of what is injected into you. It becomes more expensive because you also expel what you don’t need.)
To boost immunity, Garin said it’s better to eat vegetables and get enough hours of sleep. —NB, GMA Integrated News
