The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct road reblocking and repairs until next week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Thursday.

MMDA chairman Atty. Don Artes said the agency allowed the repair work to start tomorrow, April 5, until April 10 or April 11, if April 10 will be declared as a holiday.

“We will only allow DPWH to conduct 24-hour road repairs which they commit to finish on time and implement properly in the same manner as they implemented it during last Holy Week’s road repairs,” he said in a statement.

Roads that will be repaired include:

  • Tandang Sora Avenue, Quezon City (from Commonwealth Avenue going C-5)
  • Bonny Serrano Avenue Quezon City (corners of 15th Avenue and 20th Avenue)
  • EDSA northbound, Mandaluyong City (Apo Street to Pioneer Street, outermost lane; beside sidewalk)
  • EDSA southbound, Mandaluyong City (after Gate 4 to EDSA Shrine)
  • Roxas Boulevard northbound, Pasay City (between Lourdes Street and Vicente Sotto Street)
  • Roxas Boulevard northbound, Manila (between Remedios Street and Pasaje del Carmen Street)
  • Roxas Boulevard EDSA Flyover southbound, Pasay City (bridge approach, outer, and inner lane)
  • IBP – San Mateo Road, Quezon City (fronting Robinson Easymart to Jollibee, first lane from center)
  • Luzon Avenue southbound, Quezon City (Congressional Avenue extension to before Luzon Flyover, first lane from center)
  • Mindanao Avenue northbound, Quezon City (Uno Fuel to Chinabank, truck lane)
  • Payatas Road, Quezon City bound to Batasan Road (before Maynilad Pumping Station to G3 Center, outer lane)
  • Payatas Road, Quezon City bound to Batasan Road (Batasan Road to Bayanihan Street / Samar Street to Leyte Street, outer lane)
  • G. Araneta Avenue, Quezon City (Wayan Street to Mauban Street, first lane from sidewalk)
  • Payatas Road, Quezon City (Singko Street to Samar Street, inner lane)

Artes said that only the DPWH will be allowed to conduct road repairs. He said this is because of the unfinished road works of private contractors in the Holy Week.

“We have penalized the two contractors of a telecommunications company who were unable to comply with the deadline set for road works during the Lenten break. They will be fined P1.260 million,” he said.

Meanwhile, the DPWH will also start the retrofitting of the EDSA Kamuning Flyover Southbound starting April 25 and it will last for 11 months.  The Mabuhay Lanes will be utilized as alternate routes.

“We will coordinate with the Quezon City local government unit, DPWH, Quezon City Police District, Highway Patrol Group, and the barangay to manage the traffic. We will divert the traffic so that motorists could avoid the certain portion that will be subject to re-decking,” he said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
