Adrian Wong is taking a break from basketball after four seasons in the PBA.

The Converge FiberXers’ guard on Thursday announced the development through his agent, Titan Management Group, as the former Ateneo standout looks to recharge ‘physically and mentally’.

“After careful consideration, I’ve chosen to take a step back from playing basketball for the meantime. This decision stems from a personal need to recharge physically and mentally,” Wong said.

“I believe that this is in my best interest as I’ll be able to spend much needed time with my family and girlfriend.”

Wong was drafted fifth overall by the Rain or Shine franchise in 2019 before signing with Magnolia in 2022 following the expiration of his contract with the Elasto Painters. The Hotshots then traded him to Converge in April 2023 in exchange for Abu Tratter and David Murrell.

The 28-year-old guard averaged 1.22 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists during the previous Commissioner’s Cup where Converge wound up last with a 1-10 win-loss record.

“I appreciate the understanding and support of everybody around me, especially my family and friends, the players and management of the Converge FiberXers, and the rest of the PBA community.”
