Blackpink member Jennie has turned down the offer to star on the new Korean variety show “My Name is Gabriel.”
Citing Korean TV network JTBC, Soompi on Tuesday reports the K-pop idol would not appear in the upcoming project as she doesn’t have any plans to appear on variety shows for now.
Jennie’s agency also announced, “[Jennie] received an offer but declined it. She does not plan on appearing on variety shows for the time being.”
“My Name is Gabriel” follows the cast experiencing the lives of others abroad. Previously, JTBC confirmed that actors Ji Chang Wook, Park Bo Gum, and Yeom Hye Ran along with entertainers Park Myung Soo, and Hong Jin Kyung will star on the show.
Filming is slated to begin in early March, and the show is scheduled to premiere in June.
In December, Jennie launched her own label, Odd Atelier, which will focus on her promotions as a solo artist.
This comes after YG Entertainment officially confirmed that all Blackpink members have renewed the exclusive contract for their group activities with the label.
Jennie is the first Blackpink member to establish a solo label, after they renewed their contract with YG Entertainment.
She debuted in 2016, and made her solo debut in 2019 with the song “SOLO.”
