MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Immigration operatives arrested a South Korean and an American, both fugitives wanted for crimes in their countries, the BI reported on Friday.
The BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU) arrested Lee Yeonghak, 44, along Maria Orosa street in Ermita, Manila on March 20.
The prosecutor of Daegu district indicted Lee for allegedly having “connived with the head of a syndicate in establishing online gaming sites since 2022 from which they raked profits amounting to 90 billion won, or roughly $67 million,” according to the BI.
On March 19, the BI-FSU arrested Stan Ray Hudgins, 63, in Mabalacat, Pampanga. He is the the subject of an arrest warrant from a family court in Richard County, South Carolina “after he was charged for non-payment of child support.”
Hudgins was also identified as an “armed and dangerous” person in intelligence reports, the BI noted.
The two foreigners, who are being held at the BI’s detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, would be deported, the BI said.
