An unidentified gunman killed a barangay chairman and wounded another barangay official in Zamboanga City on Sunday evening.
According to a police report, the fatality was Franklyn Tan, the chairman of Barangay Seaside and the president of the Association of Barangay Councils in Isabela City, Basilan.
The wounded barangay official was Barangay Zone I Chairman Jaider Abdulhamid Jundam.
Barangay Zone III Chairman Daryl Jalani was unharmed in the attack, according to the police.
The victims left a hotel to get their belongings in their vehicle when the perpetrator suddenly shot the victims.
The suspect wore a red helmet and gray polo shirt and fled on a black and red motorcycle, .
Tan had three gunshot wounds on different parts of his body, while Jundam had two – on his neck and left arm.
The victims were rushed to hospital, but Tan was declared dead by the attending physician.
