April 1 is not business as usual for a number of food and beverage brands in the Philippines, as April Fools’ Day gives them a free pass to “fool” their customers with out-of-this-world and often ridiculous products.
The day is winding down, and we thought to give these ones a shoutout for making their follows LOL today.
1. Cheesy Spaghetti Smoothie
What better way to localize April Fools Day than making a smoothie from Cheesy spaghetti, a staple in Filipino celebrations? Thai tea brand Cha Tuk Chak shared its its Cheesy Spaghetti Smoothie with real pasta and lots of cheese!
“Mas palamigin pa natin ang spaghetti mo ngayong summer with our newest Cheesy Spaghetti Smoothie,” it said on its Facebook post.
Surely, it can’t get any better than this.
2. Edible Bucket
How do fast food restaurants become zero-waste? Why, by making edible packaging! KFC posted about their edible bucket made with what looks like chicken skin and as of writing, more than 5K followers LOL’d at their joke. “Available this April Fools Day only,” KFC said to clue in their followers of the joke.
3. Magic Coffee
Clear coffee with zero sugar and calories? Tim Hortons made it happen, just for April Fools’ Day. The magic coffee is made with water and… water! That’s it. On social media, the Canadian brand posted a photo of a glass of water, emphasized it was zero calories and said it was “the ultimate thirst quencher.”
4. Milk Tea-Nola with Pearls
Tinola apologists, this one’s for you! Chatime just revamped its bestselling milk tea into a Milk Tea-Nola made with chicken broth, real chicken bits, fresh ginger, malunggay leaves, green papaya, and, the best part, boba pearls!
“Some things just go together perfectly,” it said, which made some 13K followers laugh.
5. Mo Cookies’ square-shaped cookies
Mo Cookies’ signature round cookies, Palms, Midis, and Crumbs, were wiped from all stores on Aril Fools’ Day to make way for the Mo Blocks, square-shaped cookies with flavors Fudgy South Cotablocko, Gooey Oatmeal Rebel Block, and Creamy Peanut Butter Blockie. Sorry, folks, we don’t make the rules!
Remember to keep the fun going by making the right jokes for April Fools’ Day.
