They say you will just know it, when the person is right for you. But sometimes, it takes a second chance at love for the feeling to kick in.
As the case of these celebrity couples, who had to break up, get back together again, before finally getting married and having their happily ever after.
1. Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado
Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado first got together in 2010, reportedly got into an intense fight, and broke up 11 months later.
DenJen’s second chance at love happened in 2014, when they patched things up.
The couple got engaged and then married in 2021, and welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Dylan in 2022.
In an interview on “Updated with Nelson Canlas,” Dennis said he never imagined to end up with Jennylyn. “Pareho kami — we never imagined na mangyayari ‘to sa mga buhay namin [na] magkakaroon kami ng happy ending. As in hindi pa ending, parang happy start.”
2. Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez
Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez first dated when the actress was 21 years old. They were together for roughly four months before calling it quits, as Maja was focused on her family and career.
They got back together in 2019, with Maja saying Rambo was the exception to her personal rule of never getting back with an ex.
The couple got married twice in 2023, first in a private ceremony in Manila followed by a bigger wedding in Bali.
They are now set to welcome a baby girl this year.
3. Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola
Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola just had their church wedding in Coron last month, attended by family and friends. It’s their second wedding, after holding an intimate civil ceremony in 2021.
Their love story started in 2016, when the two began dating. In May 2020, they had a brief split and in December that year, the couple finally announced their engagement.
Luis and Jessy are parents to an adorable baby girl named Isabella Rose, whom they also call Rosie and Peanut.
4. Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert
Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert first started dating in 2013 after competing on a reality show. They split in 2016 to focus on their careers, a mutual decision they both said.
The couple reconciled in 2018. They got engaged and welcomed their daughter Avianna in 2021. Vin and Sophie got married in 2023.
5. Gelli De Belen and Ariel Rivera
Gelli De Belen and Ariel Rivera have been married for 25 years with two sons, Joaquin and Julio.
But before they tied the knot, the two first went through a break up, during which Ariel briefly dated Regine Velasquez.
Ariel and Gelli eventually reconciled and got married in 1997. In a recent “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” guesting, the actress gave an important advice for a long-lasting marriage: “Don’t lose yourself.”
