MANILA, Philippines — Three people were injured as fires broke out in three cities in Metro Manila yesterday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that a toddler and two women suffered burns in a fire that broke out in Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela.
The victims were identified as Caroline Okray, 50; Meann del Rosario, 32, and Zion Miggy Sioco, 2.
The BFP said the fire started at 8:27 a.m. and reached second alarm before it was put out about an hour later.
Arson probers have yet to determine what caused the fire and the estimated cost of fire damage.
In Quezon City, a fire razed a warehouse in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.
The BFP’s National Capital Region field office said the fire at the warehouse at the corner of P. Dela Cruz street and Fulgencio Road started at 4:30 a.m. and reached second alarm.
Firefighters controlled the fire just before 9 a.m. and doused the flames at 12:17 p.m.
The warehouse stored plastic wastes and other highly combustible materials.
Homer Buendia, a health and safety officer of the company that owns the warehouse, said he and other employees tried but failed to douse the fire.
The fire started in the loading area where the plastic wastes are shredded, he told GMA News.
A total of 17 employees were evacuated from the warehouse.
In Taguig, a fire broke out in Barangay Southside at 7:18 a.m., the BFP reported.
The fire, which reportedly started at the house owned by Antonina Ordoñez, reached first alarm before it was put out at 7:39 a.m.
Fire Sr. Insp. Demetrio Sablan Jr. said an ember that landed on the house’s rooftop ignited the fire.
Damage to property was placed at P12,500.
No one was reported injured in the incident.
