House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said Friday that former first lady Imelda Marcos’s condition has improved but is still “under observation.”

“I understand nag-normalize na ang temperature niya. But siyempre, under observation kasi may konting pnuemonia siya sa isang lung,” Romualdez told reporters in an ambush interview.

[I understand her temperature has normalized. But of course, she’s under observation because of pnuemonia in one of her lungs.]

Romualdez, a nephew of Imelda, said the former first lady remains confined.

“Pero very very stable and she’s recovering,” he added.

[Her condition is very, very stable and she’s recovering.]

Recovering

On Thursday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his mother is now recovering.

“My mother is feeling much better,” the President said in a social media post.

“I visited her last night after arriving from Melbourne and she was awake, alert, and even up at midnight,” he said.

On Monday, Senator Imee Marcos, the eldest child of the former first lady, told reporters in a text message that her 94-year-old mother was hospitalized.

“Inospital na namin [for] close monitoring (We brought her to the hospital for close monitoring)… Suspected pneumonia as she has been having fever [and] cough on [and] off. Given her age, we [have to] take [maximum] precautions,” the senator said.

Later in the day, the President said his mother was “suffering from slight pneumonia and is running a fever.” — Tina Panganiban-Perez/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
