Senator Robin Padilla on Monday apologized to Senate officials over the controversial drip session of his wife Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla inside his office in the Senate.

Padilla wrote to Senate’s Medical and Dental Bureau chief Dr. Renato DG Sison and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms retired Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan on Monday to explain that it was not his wife’s intention to breach any Senate protocols.

“Kailanman po ay hindi ko naisip na ipagwalang-bahala ang mga umiiral na alituntunin ukol sa seguridad ng Senado, lalo’t higit ang hindi pagbibigay-galang sa ating institusyon,” Padilla’s letter to Ancan read.

(I would never think of violating the Senate’s security protocols, much less disrespecting our institution.)

In his letter to Sision, Padilla said, “Nais ko pong bigyan ng diin na wala pong intensyon ang aking maybahay na ipagwalang-bahala ang mga umiiral na patakaran ng Medical Bureau.”

(I wish to emphasize that my wife had no intention of disregarding the rules and regulations of the Senate Medical Bureau.)

The lawmaker told the Senate officials that this incident will not happen again in the future. –KBK, GMA Integrated News
